gravatar是「Globally Recognized Avatar」的縮寫，他是一種「跨站台」的大頭貼服務，我們可以在支援gravatar服務的網站，如重灌狂人（WordPress 2.5以上版本），留言時如果填上你在gravatar網站中登錄過的Email帳號，他就會自動在你的留言旁邊顯示你自己設定的大頭貼，不用在每一個部落格註冊帳號或登錄，，

網路上的部落格一堆，如果每個人都得在每個網站註冊、發言的話，可能不是那麼方便。不過只要註冊過一次gravatar，則可以在不同網站自動顯示屬於自己的大頭貼（該站需支援gravatar功能），方便做個很簡單的身份識別，也是相當不錯。
而gravatar的大頭貼算是個比較獨特的網路身份識別方式，別人也許可以跟你使用同一個圖示，但是他的圖檔網址上面的ID卻不會跟你一樣。所以萬一有人假冒你的帳號跟大頭貼來亂說話，只要看一下他的gravatar大頭貼ID是不是跟你的ID一樣，就可知道兩者是不是同一個人。

在gravatar網站中，一個帳號可以同時登錄多組Email，每個Email可以設定一個大頭貼圖示來當作自己的識別符號，登錄Email時，必須透過收信、認證的步驟來確認該Email帳戶的所有權。
只要在gravatar網站中註冊、驗證過一次，以後到其他支援gravatar的網站留言時，填上Email就可以自動顯示你登錄過的大頭貼。日後，如果你到gravatar網站幫你的Email帳號換大頭貼的話，所有網站上的所有留言旁的大頭貼也會跟著換。

一、註冊gravatar網站帳號
要啟用gravatar大頭貼功能的話必須用你的Email去gravatar網站註冊一個帳號，完成Email驗證並登入後，即可將你的大頭貼圖片跟Email帳號綁定在一起，以後只要輸入Email就可以在支援gravatar的網站中即可自動顯示大頭貼囉。
第1步 開啟「gravatar」網站，按一下【Sign Up】，註冊一個新的帳號。
第2步 填上你的Email後，請再按一下〔Signup〕按鈕。
第3步 接著請去收信，收到一封標題為「[Gravatar] Verify email addition」或「Welcome to Gravatar」的郵件之後，請按一下郵件中的網址，啟用你的帳號。
第4步 回到gravatar網站後，請在「Nickname」輸入你的暱稱，然後在「Password」跟「Password(again)」欄位中輸入你的密碼，最後再按下〔Signup〕按鈕即可完成註冊。以後要回gravatar網站設定大頭貼的話，用你剛剛輸入的Email跟密碼登入即可。
